Dear Parents / Guardians,
On Friday November 1st, all students will be participating in a TurkeyTrot/Harvest Walk. This is an event designed to expose your child to running and walking as well as provide them with viable fitness options for their lifetime. We stress to all participants to begin a practice routine of stretching and running / walking to prepare for this event. We strongly encourage all students to participate. The following are the activities for each grade level:
Grades PreK/Kindergarten and First Grade - Harvest Walk: Students in these grade levels will walk around Tonawanda Elementary School. The route they will follow will be the same route as is used for the Halloween Parade. The Harvest walk will begin at 2pm, leaving Door 1.
Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade - Turkey Trot: The Turkey Trot will begin with a stretching routine in the bus loop, located on Gibson Street. The Turkey Trot run will then start after the warm-up at approximately 9:15 AM. Second and third grade students will run and/or walk a ½ mile long road race; while fourth and fifth grade students will run and/or walk in a ¾ mile road race. Students will end the race at the Bus loop of Tonawanda Elementary School.
Parents and guardians are welcome to support our students as they participate in this event. You may cheer on students from Gibson Street. There will not be parking available on Gibson Street.
There will be prizes for the top three boys and girls at grade level, as well as prizes for the overall individual
boy and girl winner at each Grade level. All students will receive refreshments compliments of the PTSA.
The event will take place rain or shine. In the event of extreme inclement weather, it will be postponed. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, and is wearing proper footwear. A change of clothes, sweat suit, hat, gloves, etc., should be brought to school on the day of the race.

Grade 5: 9am
Grade 4: 9:30am
Grade 3: 10am
Grade 2: 10:30am
